Stripes01After laying out the black portion of driver's side stripe I coved the side of the car with paper.
Stripes02I used 1/2 inch thick blue striping tape. To get a nice straight line I used a long magnetic strip designed for use with pin-striping tools.
Stripes03A nice, smooth bend and it's up to the spoiler. I painted the spoiler previously.
Stripes04After taping I covered the rest of the GSX with tarps to prevent any over-spray from getting on any other parts.
Stripes05The end result. After spraying I removed the tape quickly so it didn't have time to dry.
Stripes06Another look at the stripe after the tape has been removed.
Stripes07The stripe at the back where it joins the spoiler. Next comes the red pin stripes.
Stripes08Next comes the red pin stripes. These are 1/8 inch stripes separated from the black by a 1/8 inch gap.
Stripes09The stripes run the entire length of the GSX starting from a point at the front.
Stripes10A look down the side of the Buick.
Stripes11After painting and before the paper and tape coame off looks like this.

Stripes14Another look at the final job.
Stripes14.z22734Detail of Stripes14
Stripes15Next, I need to match these stripes on the passengers side of the GSX.
GSXHood01he first step is to lay out the portion of the hood to be painted black. THe hood of a GSX is painted semi-gloss black.
GSXHood02If you attempt this make sure you have plenty of blue striping tape handy. It requires more than you would assume.

BaffleBall01Gottlieb's Baffle Ball pinball machine. One nickel gives you 10 balls (actually marbles). The equivalent of todays Skill Shot is the Baffle Hole (at the very top of the playfield).
BaffleBall02More of the lower scoring pockets. The middle pockets are worth more points than the center pockets.
BaffleBall03Any balls which miss the high scoring areas end up in one of the scoring pockets at the bottom of the playfield.
BaffleBall04Scoring is simple. You try to get the ball in one of the circular regions for maximum points.

GSXHood02If you attempt this make sure you have plenty of blue striping tape handy. It requires more than you would assume.
GSXHood03
GSXHood07
GSXHood09
GSXHood10After removing the tape and paper we get a nice black finish. I sanded the surface with 2000 sandpaper then applied a polishing compound.
GSXHood12Next comes the red pin stripes. The first step is to lay out the stripes using blue tape then cover all of the parts not being painted.
GSXHood18The final hood (after I put on the hood scoops).

PaintShop1My 1970 GSX arrives at the paint shop.
PaintShop2The body work has been completed and the interior has been already been sprayed yellow.
PaintShop3Another view of the GSX waiting to get painted.
PaintShop4Once inside, the final preparation begins.
PaintShop5Not much to look at in this form.
Stripes03A nice, smooth bend and it's up to the spoiler. I painted the spoiler previously.
Stripes07The stripe at the back where it joins the spoiler. Next comes the red pin stripes.
Stripes08Next comes the red pin stripes. These are 1/8 inch stripes separated from the black by a 1/8 inch gap.
Stripes12After painting and before the paper and tape coame off looks like this.
Stripes13A first look at the red pin-stripes after the tape was removed.
